El sistema sanitario de Euskadi mantiene activos 858 proyectos de investigación en salud, cuyo objetivo es avanzar tanto en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de diferentes enfermedades como en la mejora de la calidad de vida de las personas. El Gobierno vasco ha dado a conocer los datos de la memoria anual de la actividad de investigación, desarrollo e innovación, desarrollada el año pasado por la red compuesta por los Institutos de Investigación Sanitaria de Osakidetza. Según el informe correspondiente al año pasado, cuatro de cada diez investigaciones se centraron en el campo de la oncología y la neurología. Además, ha destacado que casi siete de cada diez personas investigadoras son mujeres, una proporción que se consolida en los últimos años. El personal investigador lo componen mayoritariamente profesionales de Osakidetza, un 73% de los propios institutos un 16% y de la UPV un 9%.</a>
